Crunchy, creamy, and flavorful, what’s not to love! This snack is so simple and perfect to eat before a workout. It takes barely anytime to make and all you need is a few ingredients!
Rice cakes with peanut butter and banana is one of my all-time favorite snacks. It’s so simple and delicious. I love how it’s light on my stomach, so it’s perfect to consume before a workout or run. I have been eating this almost every day for the past year and still love it!
I am a huge peanut butter girl and could eat it every day (sometimes more than once). My favorite rice cake combo is powdered peanut butter, banana, chia seeds, cinnamon & honey, but this is extremely versatile and can be adjusted to your liking. So, if you’re not feeling banana, add blueberries or whatever fruit you like!
There are also many different varieties of spreads you can add to rice cakes. Some great options are greek yogurt, nutella, any nut butter, and so much more. My 2-ingredient high protein dip would also work great especially topped with dark chocolate chips.

How These Ingredients Benefit Us:
Rice cakes:
Rice Cakes are low calories and don’t have much nutritional value; however, they are perfect for adding other great nutrional foods to create a balanced snack. Since plain rice cakes have little flavor, you can add any combination of spreads, fruits, & veggies to make a sweet or savory snack. They are extremely versatile and can be adjusted to whatever you’re craving.
Peanut Butter
Peanut Butter is a great source of protein and healthy fats. It also is loaded with vitamins and minerals, which are essential for the body. Additionally, it is high in fiber which aids better digestion. Since, most peanut butters have added ingredients like sugar or oil, the best option is to buy it with peanuts only.
Bananas
Bananas are rich in nutrients, contain a good amount of fiber, and carbs. They are full of antioxidants which are shown to aid digestion. Not to mention, they also help you feel fuller, and are the perfect food for athletes.
Chia Seeds
Chia seeds are extremely nutritious and loaded with antioxidants. They contain many important bone nutrients including calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium. They also contain a good amount of protein and healthy fats. Not to mention, chia seeds also look amazing aesthetically and pair well with multiple foods.
Cinnamon:
Cinnamon is a spice that’s been used for centuries. It is rich in antioxidants and may have Anit-inflammatory properties. Research shows that cinnamon can help improve diseases and lower blood sugar. There are two types of cinnamon: Ceylon and Cassia. Cassia can be harmful in large amounts so a good alternative would be Ceylon cinnamon.
Honey:
Honey contains antioxidants, minerals, and enzymes. It is also shown that honey can soothe coughs, sore throats and treat wounds. Plus, it is super easy to add honey in your diet, and pairs well with yogurt, oats, baking, etc.
